And we are SO in his blog! Here is the link and a rough translation of his blog (done by me and the help of an online dictionary. And my JTE helped me understand the first part.
With 1354 votes, I have been elected into office.
Due to the laws on elections, I am banned from thanking you for your vote. (Not sure why...news to me AND my JTE...)
Also, I want to apologize for this annoyance during this time.
From this evening, I have been given proof of my election into office and my official badge as a councilman.
My cell phone has been ringing with calls and emails since this morning.
Many people have come to see me at work, too!
I have become so full of happiness and a sense of purpose!
However, because I need to be a little bit more composed, I think we should reassert the time of the election (to remember what it is I want to accomplish).
From now, onward! I will eagerly give it my best effort!
So, here's the story.
Sunday was election day. As I said before, we were invited to come to his party on Sunday night as we awaited the results. Of course, we went. We arrived around 10:30 pm, but the results didn't come back until right before 1am. We had a nice time sitting around and watching the night unfold. From 11 onward, he would get phone calls updating him on the status...all of which sounded good; but you could tell that with every phone call, he was getting more and more nervous. He would stay outside instead of mingle inside...waiting for the results is tough work!
Finally, right before 1 am, we could hear him almost screaming "thank you, thank you!" into his phone. 5 seconds later, he runs in and shouts, "I WON!!!!!!" He was jumping up and down, screaming "YATTA!" and hugging everyone around him. More and more of his friends came in to congratulate him. We all went downstairs where his friends picked him up and threw him in the air and then he popped a "raw sake" bottle...it went everywhere! We left shortly after the results came in because we were some of the few people that actually had to be at work in the next 6 hours, but going there was totally worth it!
Best JET experience ever? Quite possibly!
And there you have it! Check out Zara's blog for her account on this! :) AWESOME.
